
Ranbir Kapoor made his debut into films with ‘Saawariya’ opposite Sonam Kapoor which also marked her debut. The film was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Salman Khan had an extended cameo in the film. The song ‘Jab Se Tere Naina’ sung by Shaan became viral because of the choreography. Ranbir Kapoor is seen dancing with a towel throughout the song. He went on to acting in Bachna Ae Haseeno, Wake Up Sid, Rocket Singh, Anjaana Anjaani, Rajneeti etc.
He won several awards for his performance in films like Rockstar, Barfi and Sanju. He also won the award for Best Debut for Saawariya. Sanju is Ranbir’s highest grossing film of all time Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani being the highest grossing film earlier. On the other side Ranbir’s film didn’t do well at the box office with flops back to back from Besharam, Roy, Bombay Velvet, Tamasha.

The crime drama Bomaby Velvet was directed by Anurag Kashyap-, based on the book ‘Mumbai Fables’, which also starred Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar. Ranbir portrayed an ambitious boxer in the 1960s who is drawn towards a life of crime; he based his tapori diction on Johnny Walker’s character in Mr. & Mrs. ’55 (1955). Made on a budget of ₹1.2 billion, the film opened to meager box-office collections and mixed reviews from critics. The film turns five yesterday and director Anurag has shared unseen posters from the film.
