Thiruttu Payale was well received. Santosh Subramaniam is still a favourite among family audience. Neram marked the debut of Nivin Pauly and Nazriya in Kollywood. It was also director Alphonse Putharen’s first film as a director. Madarsapattinam introduced us to Amy Jackson. Avan Ivan received accolades for the performances by the lead actors. Suriya was seen playing the role of ‘conjoined twins’ in Mattrraan which was earlier seen in Charulatha. Anegan marked the debut of Amyra in Kollywood and the movie’s songs were a big hit among the audience. Thani Oruvan marked the comeback of Arvind Swami which clearly showed he still has a massive fan following. We got to see TR playing a full-fledged role on screen after quite a long time in Kavan. Thirittu Payale 2 was aslo well received as the first. Thalapthy starrer Bigil was much hyped as the story revolves around an all women football team.

Archana Kalpathi was the creative producer for Bigil. Being a Thalapthy fan she was very excited to be a part of the crew. In the present lockdown situation, where theatres remain closed and film releases on hold; producers are opting for an OTT release. When Archana Kalpathi was asked to choose between OTT and theatrical release, she tweeted

So many people have asked me about OTT Vs Theatrical release I will not pick sides I don’t want to.I believe we are two sides of the same coin and everyone is just trying to survive this storm. So let us be positive and stand together as an Industry ❤️— Archana Kalpathi (@archanakalpathi) May 15, 2020
