Taika Waititi is best known for directing Thor: Ragnarok in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and his satirical black comedy Jojo Rabbit. He also plays the rolees of Korg in Thor and Adolf Hitler in Jojo Rabbit. Jojo Rabbit revolves around Johannes “Jojo” Betzler, a Hitler Youth member who finds out his mother is hiding a Jewish girl in their attic. He must then question his beliefs, while dealing with the intervention of his imaginary friend, a fanciful version of Adolf Hitler with a comedic stand on the politics of the war.

The film received five nominations at the BAFTA awards and six nominations at the 92nd Academy Awards. Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Supporting Actress, Best Picture, Best Costume Design, Best Film Editing and Best Production Design were the categories the film was nominated for the Oscars winning the award for Best Adapted Screenplay. Best Editing, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Costume Design, Best Production Design and Best Film Music were the categories the film was nominated for the BAFTA winning the award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
The film stars Roman Griffin Davis, Thomasin McKenzie, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, Rebel Wilson, Taika Waititi, Stephen Merchant, Alfie Allen, and Archie Yates. Johansson had two nomiantions each for the BAFTAs and the Oscars; Best Supporting Actress for Jojo Rabbit and Best Actress for Marriage Story.
Taika Waititi will direct and co-write the new Star Wars movie for, Disney announced earlier this week. This won’t be the first time Taika is involved with the Star Wars universe; he directed the season finale of The Mandalorian. Krysty Wilson-Cairns, who co-wrote the screenplay for 1917, which won the British Academy Film Award for Outstanding British Film earlier this year, will join Waititi in co-writing the new Star Wars film. She will be the second woman to co-write a Star Wars movie; Leigh Brackett was the first, co-writing The Empire Strikes Back with Lawrence Kasdan.
