MRINAL SEN-A DAY TO REMEMBER!

MRINAL SEN, a name that cant be erased in the Indian cinema. A key-pillar of the celebrated triumvirate that gave Bengali cinema sustained global heft, Mrinal Sen was a shy and reserved person for close friends and acquaintance called the legendary film-maker based on Kolkata. Along with his contemporaries Satyajit Ray and Ritwik Ghatak, he was often considered to be the one of the greatest ambassadors of Bengali parallel cinema on the global stage. As a ardent admirer of other two contemporaries, they shared a healthy rivalries in the field of direction and cinema. Sen was an ardent follower of Marxist philosophy and his thoughts were reflected in his works. Ideas were excreted from Existentialism, Surrealism, Marxism, German Expressionism and sometimes his works will not have an happy ending.

In 1982, he was a member of the jury at the 32nd Berlin International Film Festival and he never stopped experimenting theories in his films. Mrinal received global recognition and awards from all Film Festivals like Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Moscow, Karlovy Vary, Montreal, Chicago and Cairo. In 2008, he received his Lifetime Achievement Award at the 10th edition of the Osian’s Cinefest Film Festival.

Mrinal Sen died on Dec-30, 2018 at the age of 95 at his home in Bhawanipore, Kolkata while suffering an Heart attack. He will be remembered by the Indian cinema and V4U Media prays for the legendary director to Rest In Peace!!
